Description Situated in a commanding position high up in the south Madonie the Agriturismo Xireni is a delightful country estate that is run by Anna and Mario, a most warm and welcoming couple that understand about the needs of good tourism in Sicily. Along with their horses and other animals they run this place with a sympathetic eye for detail. Set within a courtyard, these 7 rooms are in a peaceful world of their own, in fact once arriving here you will find all you need is a seat, a good book and a glass of wine to wile away the hours. Some of the rooms are designed for families, being big enough to accommodate 4/5 people, some also have a small kitchenette so you are able to cater for yourselves. Breakfast is normally taken in the conservatory or outside on the terrace where the views will give you an appetite for the delicious local specialities they serve. This area of the Madonie is famous for its wildlife and regularly spotted is the windhover, a bird of prey that has similarities to the kestrel. This is really a superb spot for those wanting to travel about and discover the Madonie area and situated just 3km, around 10 minutes from the motorway it’s within easy reach of Cefalu, Catania, Palermo and the whole Madonie range. The nearest town being Castellana Sicula some 15 minutes drive, is where you can find bars, restaurants and superb pastry shops tucked away in little villages like Calcerelli.
