Travel Info


Sicily still remains a difficult destination to arrive into for the rest of the world and the best and cheapest way to get here is by air. If you are arriving from outside Europe then there should be no problem getting into Rome or Milan, where you can get cheap onward connections to either Catania or Palermo.

For those that are within the rest of Europe, flights are becoming more frequent into the Islands airports, dependent on when you travel to Sicily there are charter and scheduled flights available that are reasonably priced.
Alternatively you could always be the adventurer and arrive by boat into the port of Palermo from Livorno, Genoa or Naples.

For those of you that are arriving from outside Europe once arriving into any of the national airports of Italy there will be what’s called internal flights connecting you with Sicily for your last leg of the journey.
Most of the internal flights are taking just over an hour to either Palermo or Catania. 

 If you are travelling in the high season to Sicily it is advisable to book your passage on  ferries and flight tickets well in advance as it gets very busy late July into August when most Italians take there vacations.


PLEASE BE AWARE IF TRAVELLING WITHIN THE EU COUNTRIES: AIRPORTS NOW HAVE STRICTER REGULATIONS AND LUGGAGE ALLOWANCES ON SOME AIRLINES MAYBE LIMITED, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THESE DETAILS BEFORE FLYING.

The Americas and Canada


It is a point to remember for those travelling from America or Canada there are no direct flights to Sicily, You will find all connecting flights from Rome or Milan which usually have good airlines flying out of Toronto and Montréal, and most American Airports are well served into Rome.

Ireland


If you are travelling within the republic of Ireland, from the month of May certain airways charter flights direct from Dublin and Cork into Catania, please contact Crystal holidays direct for info.


Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport is situated on the North coast and is just over 1 hour from Cefalu.

Catania Fontanarossa  Airport is situated on the east coast and is 50 minutes drive from Taormina Resort.
Both Airports are well sign posted for the motorways (autostrada) and situated within 5 minutes drive away.

Please ensure you bring your driving license with you and if not an EU license in addition an International Driving Permit.  Also you must have a valid passport and be more than 25 years old.  Insurance will be arranged with the car hire with the various levels of cover available.


Holiday Insurance.


flipflop.jpgWe require all clients to take out adequate holiday insurance. As a minimum this should include cover for medical expenses, personal accident and repatriation in the event of illness or accident, loss or damage to/of personal possessions or money, cancellation charges and third party liability cover.

Please remember that insurance bought through your flight operator will more than likely only cover your flight for baggage loss, cancellation etc. but will not cover the rest of your holiday.

If you are intending to take part in more adventurous activities during your stay, please check with your insurer that you are covered as many activities are excluded on some policies and you made need extra cover.
